The Confluence Approach
MISSION
To facilitate durable conservation outcomes by building the collaborative capacity of decision makers and stakeholders to navigate the confluence of technical data and human dimensions.
Confluence Decisions prioritizes relationship-building as the essential groundwork for better collaboration. I ground every process in collaborative learning, where data is central to the conversation and openness about stakeholder values creates a shared understanding of what the data actually means for peoples' lives.

CORE VALUES
Collaboration
Fostering neutral spaces for holistic, creative solutions. In a world of interacting systems, the status quo is increasingly untenable. I facilitate collaboration in neutral settings where all participants—from agency researchers to local landowners—feel respected and included. This environment is essential for managing the "messy middle," where ecological health and community needs are deeply intertwined.
Transparency
Clear process, clear rationale. I believe transparency—especially regarding underlying values, data, models, and assumptions—is the key to trust building. Even when consensus isn’t possible, a transparent process strengthens relationships and ensures that decision-making rationale is clear, constructive, and mindful of diverse perspectives.

Inclusion
Expanding the circle of stewardship. Natural resources are a public trust, and more voices than ever are interested in their management. I believe that engaging a greater diversity of interests isn’t just a challenge—it’s an opportunity. By being intentionally inclusive, I help you build stronger conservation alliances across a growing network of stewards.

Rigor
Digging into the differences. Rigor isn't just about math; it’s about a commitment to sound, repeatable methods that incorporate both science and values. Confluence adheres to a high standard of collaboration: listening to learn rather than respond, mitigating bias, and staying curious. True rigor means putting in the effort to dig into differences rather than glossing over them, even when it’s messy or inconvenient.

The Confluence Advantage
Collaboration is more than a buzzword—it is a powerful strategy for improving decision outcomes, building resilient relationships, and increasing transparency in a polarized world.
